BITTER END TO A GREAT SEASON

Posted by Sergio Gadaleta on August 18, 2011 at 2:40 PM
Team,
First of all I want to congratulate Paolo on our lone goal last night. For those who weren't there, we lost 2-1 in the semifinal against Rat Pack. The season has come to a close and I am disappointed of how we ended it. The 2 goals we got are legit ones and Teddy and the defense have nothing to be ashamed of. In my opinion, the ref's did a GREAT job as they called a good game. Although the field was playable, because of how wet the AstroTurf was, the ball picked-up too much speed as it hit the ground. I thought I had the equalizer but I was fooled by the turf and couldn't get to it on time. SO SORRY GUYS. Let's blame the loss on Scott, Mahler, Bill, and Jim as they weren't there :)
Our team played a GREAT game, but they seemed to have better control of the ball. I'm dissapointed we lost, but I think we had an even match. Whatever the case, maybe playing at Torpey wasn't my best judgement call, and I am sorry for that. MENTAL NOTE: Don't play on turf after rain.......NO BALL CONTROL.
Now that the SOB part is out of the way, I want to congratulate you all for a GREAT season. We came at the top of our division and, looking at the archives of the league, it was the first time this happened. The team played great games in all aspects. Teddy, as usual, was solid in goal. Scott, Paul, Bob, Dirk, John, and Jeremy protected our goealie to the point I saw him yawning many times. The midfield with Luigi, Alex, Marco, Jim, and Abel was the heart of the team, covering for our defense and providing great balls for our forwards. Paolo and Doug gave the opposing teams nightmares on their defense. The bench (which to me is the MVP of the team) composed of Bill, Rich, Mariano, Mahler, and Cam came into the games giving the starters breathing room and provided great support by being ready when called upon and their selfnessless towards the team. The coach.....ah Fabrizio. As usual, we had disagreements, but he did a great job in directing instructions and making timely substitutions in keeping EVERYONE involved (some more, others less, but everyone played considerable minutes).
For the first time (in a LONG TIME) we will not have the year end celebration at Bill's house as he cannot commit. With that said, we'll have it at my house on Tuesday night Aug 30 at 6:30 PM. Please let me know if you will be able to make it or not so I can plan the food and drinks accordingly. When responding, please let me know how many IMMEDIATE family members you plan to bring.
See you all on Tuesday night Aug 30.
Thanks
Sergio
